About 90 people attended the American Legion Hall to hear the head of the NJ chapter of Americans for Prosperity
Republican candidate for Mayor Patrick Cassio introduced Mr. Lonegan calling him " a true friend of the tax payer in cities like Rahway". Cassio also said "Rahway has become unaffordable for many home owners and city hall is not listening to residents. Its time for new leadership in our city." Lonegan blamed the Christie budget for hurting suburban areas and not cutting enough in Abbott districts, specifically mentioning Hoboken whose residents have a much higher income than Rahway. He also praised 2 Republican State Senators, Jennifer Beck and Michael Doherty for standing up against new fees and taxes in this budget. Rahway officials have not introduced a municipal budget and the new new budget year begins on July 1st. No details from city officials about taxes going up or any possible layoffs.
